- The controller does not respond
In a multi-monitor setup, the controller will not respond unless the mouse cursor is over the game screen and the game window is active. Also, the controller must be selected, with the Xbox button in the center of the controller lit
- The Switch controller was not recognized when connected
Switch controllers are not supported. Use a controller labeled for Xbox or XInput. Controllers for both PC and Xbox can be used. Some third-party Switch controllers support XInput and may work
- No sound after connecting a PS5 DualSense Edge controller
The PS5 DualSense Edge has a headphone jack, and connecting it may change the default Windows audio output device to the PS5 DualSense Edge. In the sound output settings, switch the output back to the speakers you normally use
- Low frame rate and frequent screen tearing
Even if your PC has powerful graphics hardware, a low monitor refresh rate will reduce visual quality. We recommend playing at a minimum of 120 Hz, or preferably 240 Hz or higher
- The game fails to launch and displays a “Failed to load il2cpp” message
Windows Smart App Control may prevent the game from launching. Try the workaround described below
- The game fails to launch and displays a garbled message
Windows antivirus protection may prevent the game from launching. Try the workaround described below
- KOHANE JK dialogue typo [JK 2-01]
The line shown when entering 2-01 says, "ところでバニちゃん、ラビ姫を助けるにはどうすればいいの?" However, the voiced line actually says "助けるためには."
- Incorrect S-Rank requirement in KOHANE JK [JK]
Pressing the Y button on the stage select screen displays the S-Rank requirement, but even if you meet that condition, you cannot earn an S-Rank if time runs out. This explanation was fixed in Kohane EX.
- Selecting locked stages in KOHANE JK [JK]
When later stages have not yet been unlocked, such as on a first playthrough, select "トビオショップ" or "チュートリアル" directly above 1-20, 2-20, 3-20, 4-20, or 5-20 on the stage select screen, then press Down and the A Button at the same time. This lets you start the stage below.
- Underfloor goal [JK S-10, EX 09-01, EX 09-02, EX 10-07, EX 10-10]
You can finish the stage by getting underneath the floor below the goal panel with special movement. Methods include: 1) going under while Big, 2) sliding along the floor and pushing toward the goal panel, or 3) entering with a Speed +7 outfit (+5 in KOHANE JK). This cannot be done on the first floor.
- Underfloor goal 2 [JK 5-17, EX 04-06, EX 09-01]
If you are just short on momentum while attempting an underfloor goal, you may touch the freeze zone near the goal area. This puts the game into a ready state where "the goal will trigger the next time you touch the floor." The goal then activates when you either land on the floor or fall below the first floor.
- Aerial goal [JK 2-16, JK 2-18, JK 2-19, JK 4-11, JK 4-18, JK 4-11, JK 5-14, EX 05-03, EX 07-06, EX 07-08, EX 08-10, EX 09-01, EX 10-07]
You can finish the stage by ramming sideways at high speed into a floor or ice tile on the level directly above the goal panel.
- Goal cancel [JK 5-17, EX 09-01, EX 09-10, EX 10-02]
After touching the freeze zone near the goal area and entering the state where "the goal will trigger the next time you touch the floor," stepping on a damage panel such as a Skull stamp by any method cancels the goal. This can happen even after a successful underfloor goal and even if the “CLEARED” message is already displayed. In this state, the timer stops decreasing and you can move indefinitely. The menu also cannot be opened. Continuing to play will increase your score, but the IGT (time) is locked to the moment you first reached the goal. Methods include: 1) stepping on a Skull Stamp that has overwritten the goal, or 2) getting under the floor of a goal area on the second floor or higher, touching the freeze zone, then falling onto a Skull stamp. This has been fixed in the Steam version.
- Warping above the goal
When performing an aerial goal setup, your position may suddenly warp, or you may trigger odd behavior such as jumping in midair. This usually happens together with an aerial goal, but technically it can occur even if the aerial goal itself does not succeed. If you happen to warp outside the freeze zone and then land on any floor tile, the goal condition is met at that moment. However, since you are not in a valid location for the stage-clear transition, the stage does not end, and you can keep moving indefinitely just like with a goal cancel. The Steam version has been fixed so goal cancel no longer occurs.
- Stamping at the same time as reaching the goal [JK 5-09, JK S-10]
The freeze zone that triggers the goal is slightly larger than it appears, so on stages where a stamp touches the goal, it is possible to clear while stepping on the stamp. It may also look as though you can finish even when landing slightly away from the goal panel, as long as your momentum is carrying you toward it.
- Kohane EX observation music [EX Kohane's Room]
Music for observation mode exists, but the track does not change when you enter observation mode.
- Kohane EX observation music selection display [EX Kohane's Room]
If you play the "Observation Room" track, enter "Observation", and then return to Sound again, the selected track display changes to "Kohane's Room" instead of the currently playing "Observation Room" This has been fixed in the Steam version.
- Falling after reaching the goal [EX 02-04, EX 04-10, EX 05-05, EX 09-01]
If you reach the goal with enough momentum to almost jump over the freeze zone near the goal area, but barely touch it instead, inertia may carry you past the goal. If there is only one floor tile beyond it, you will fall. In Kohane EX, doing this at a third-floor goal can cause a skirt to be flipped. This is extremely difficult and requires TAS-level inputs.
- Kohane EX disappearing skirt [EX Kohane's Room]
During "Observation," the skirt may disappear in the pose where Kohane is sitting on the balance ball.
- Kohane EX jump-height issue [EX 04-04, EX 06-06, EX 10-07, EX 10-10]
In the PlayStation version, airtime while Big is the same as normal, which can make some intended routes unusable.
- Kohane EX stage-start dancing [EX]
In the Switch version, Kohane briefly performs a strange spinning motion at the start of a stage. This did not happen at launch, but started occurring after a Switch update in August 2023. It does not happen on Switch 2.
- Kohane EX hopping rotation [EX]
In the Switch version, using the Tobio Drone leaves the pogo stick rotated at a fixed angle. The angle varies by stage. This state also carries over while floating and during the clear pose. It does not happen on Switch 2.
- Kohane EX oversized Mofu-mofu(Fluffy) furball bomb [EX 10-03]
If you are caught by a Mofu-mofu(Fluffy) furball bomb while Mini state, the bomb becomes oversized when Mini ends. This has been fixed in the Steam version.
- Jump lock
If you hit a Tumbleweed at the exact moment you land, your jump may stop and leave you unable to progress. A separate jump-lock case has also been confirmed in Kohane EX 09-02: when using a floor-slide goal, the jump can stop on the first-floor tile.
- Tumbleweed Big jump
Touching Tumbleweed may rarely trigger a huge jump. This is likely caused by a calculation error similar to division by zero.
- Softlock when Tumbleweed falls into a pit [JK S-07]
If you fall into a pit and also knock Tumbleweed into the pit, the game may become impossible to progress depending on the timing. In S-04, if you drop it from the third floor, it falls to the first floor; when this happens, the spinning grass briefly stops in midair in a suspicious-looking way.
- Incorrect clear-time display [EX(Steam)]
In the Steam version, when the clear time exceeds one minute, the display may fail to carry over correctly, showing values such as 0:60.03.
- Lag
On Switch and Switch 2, jump airtime is not perfectly consistent, and offsets of around two frames happen frequently. Because of this, some combos depend partly on luck. For example, in the Switch version of Kohane EX, when stepping on the floor three times with JUMP -1, whether the combo connects is roughly a 50/50 chance. Moving floors and tornado timing can also drift on both Switch and PlayStation.
- Load delay
Under certain conditions, load-time delays can occur at random. These delays can throw off the timing of Tumbleweed and moving floors. Reloading can almost eliminate the issue, but it cannot be fully prevented on Switch or Switch 2. On PS5, load delay only occurs on a limited number of stages.
- Calculation error
In the Switch and Steam versions, the combo check has calculation error, so jumps with the same airtime can produce different results. For example, at 302 frames, the pattern cycles every three jumps: the first jump fails at 5.03 seconds, the second fails at a cumulative 10.07 seconds, and the third succeeds at a cumulative 15.10 seconds. In the PlayStation version, the check is always accurate. In the Steam version, it is random.
- Tornado / Mofu-mofu furball endless trap [JK]
After escaping from a tornado or Mofu-mofu furball hold, you may be caught again immediately and become unable to break free. Kohane EX was adjusted to add invincibility time after release.
- Stamp movement while locked at "まさかバニ" [JK]
During Princess Rabbi's first appearance, horizontal movement is locked. However, by making her appear outside 1-10 through special methods, if there is an Arrow Stamp at the landing point while horizontal movement is locked, the arrow movement still triggers. If you step on an Boost Arrow, the horizontal movement lock is removed and you can move again.
- S-medal airtime differs before and after obtained [JK]
An obtained S-medal always gives 1.33 seconds of airtime, but an unobtained S-medal behaves like a floor jump, so its airtime changes based on jump power. As a result, in Championship Mode, where players compete over single-frame time saves, playing on a new user profile can save several frames. This creates unfair situations.
- Midair damage
If you are hit by a Volcanic Bullet while jumping over a gap with no floor below, you fall straight down. In that case, you take damage twice: once from the Volcanic Bullet and once from falling.
- Big Jump-Up Stamp airtime
Big stamps have different airtime depending on your jump state when you step on them. If you step on one with less than JUMP +5 (+3 in KOHANE JK), your jump power is raised to the maximum, so logically the airtime should match JUMP +5 (+3 in KOHANE JK). In practice, however, the airtime is still based on your jump power before stepping on the stamp. This is inconsistent with Speed-Up Stamps, which apply the speed boost immediately when stepped on, and it is also misleading from a gameplay standpoint.
- Volcanic Bullet impact effect offset
The light effect shown when a Volcanic Bullet lands is offset from the actual impact location, making it hard to tell where the rock actually fell.
- Stamp placement that ignores Volcanic Bullet hitboxes
For Volcanic Bullets, the tile to the right of the impact point is safe, while the tile to the left will hit you. However, the stamp placement in all stages does not account for this. In the Steam version, Volcanic Bullets also appear in Moon stages; there, you can be hit even when standing two tiles away from the landing point. Since Volcanic Bullets can fall next to Switches required for S-Rank attempts, beating the stage depends on randomness.
- No explanations [EX]
Kohane EX removed the TIPS that were available in the previous game, KOHANE JK. As a result, players starting with Kohane EX may find it harder to fully clear the game than players starting with KOHANE JK.
- The Steam version fails to launch [EX(Steam)]
The Steam version may fail to launch after the monthly Windows Update due to the way it is implemented. Smart App Control, which is enabled by default, may prevent the game from launching. It may start working again if you wait a few days. Disabling Smart App Control should allow the game to launch, but be careful: there are reports that once you turn it off, you may not be able to turn it back on.
You can also try the following method. Administrator privileges are required.
